Jane Austen

Though "Becoming Jane" didn't receive good review, I went to see this movie anyway to learn more about Jane Austen. Somehow, transforming the love story of a famous writer could be a hook for many fiction fans.

I've been into love with "Pride & Prejudice" and "Elizabeth Darcy" in her novel. She's wit, brave, intelligent, elegant and fearless. Obviously Jane Austen based on her first love to write the First Impression, later it's called Pride & Prejudice. Elizabeth and Jane as in P&P are exactly the copy cats of herself and her sister.

The sisters were very close to each other. Balls were the fashion of the time and the good spots to socialize. They were not afraid to show their emotion and love to pursue men. Finding husbands were essential. Being calculative on how much income one receives was important at the time. It's not quite understandable till I saw these two movies and read more about the historical background of the stories.

The movie might not be as good as P&P but it did move people and let me shed some tears. It also drove me to read more about the life of Jane Austen. The book described her as a woman with the modern thought. She's probably one of the advocate of women's independance.
