Renovation - Day 1

1 September 2015
Met the contractor at 9:30am for removal of the old cabinets, toilet, and tiles, etc.

Demolition started at 10. It was so loud and so fast as there were a group of 8 - 10 strong workers. Town gas technicians also came over to remove the gas stove and gas heater. I had a nightmare the night before that I might receive complaints from neighbours. I felt a bit scared after staying there for 15 minutes that I decided to let them do the work.

I filled all the forms for the C F (the project manager) who seems to be not that literate.  I also took a look of another flat that his worker is laying the tiles. I'm surprised that demolition requires a big team while the tile work is only carried out by 1 worker. I can imagine that the floor will simply takes him a few days' work.

An open kitchen has become a trend. I visited an acquaintance whose flat is an open kitchen. The flat I saw today will also have an open kitchen.

The demolition work seemed to be completed quickly by 3 - 4pm on the same day. By the time I came over to check on it at 7pm, many bricks and sands are ready for making a new room and toilet.
