Toronto & Vancouver

Image
I couldn't believe that my Toronto trip was over and I continued my travelling in Vancouver. I had a mixed feeling in my Toronto trip. It's good in a way to see the city again and my friends again. The city is not much different. I picked up my memory here and there when I walked around the streets in the city. Toronto Island is still peaceful, amazing and I met a friendly little black cat who was fond of me on Ward's Island. She's in front of the B&B and waited people to give her some attention. There were some B&Bs around but I could only imagine only the old people would live there. I'm a bit surprised that my friend's family stay calm over my friend's sickness. And I feel a bit worried that she doesn't have the medication at all. I remember I cried a few times when my mom broke her arms and I hated to show my feeling in front of her, but I just feel sad thinking how my friend has to go through all this and how hard it is for her family. why all were broken down

Image
It seems like there is an endless shopping list for I need to stock up stuff which were all broken down... the fan, the luggage bag, the mobile phone, the camera. Not to mention that my favouriate glasses seem to be lost somewhere. So far, I'm on a good track. Of course, the fan is the top of my list and I went to get one right after it's out of order. How possibly survive without a fan in a summer. The air conditioner can't save you from the heat every day. So it's my funny looking fan. I quite like it, very functional, look less boring.

research project

I was so glad that the research project was finally done. It's the work of 9 people but it's never that easy even if you imagine everyone just wrote a small part of it. It's an interesting mix of 9 people. Despite most of us persued the same goal by putting much efforts to finish that, it happened to come across to have someone who is enthusiastic but may not be able to deliver the work to the standard that other people want. Another one may care much about whether it's fair for someone who didn't write that much or try to play a part in it. A member who gave comments that you might not quite agree with but you're working on the way to convince her "it's not right". Phones occasionally rang at my sleeping hours. But it's all done and a job well done. I just want to say that I'm happy with how it looks like and it probably exceeds my expectation in some ways.

Are they too energetic?

I have never found it so tired for helping out a company's photo session. I'm starting to get used to it but every time it's fun to look at staff acting out some scenes. Today, I encountered some nurses who were so energetic and overwhelming with the photo opportunities. They're like big kids, full of energies and a sense of humors. I would imagine Southwest Airlines will be interested in getting some of these nurses as their air hostesses. Well before the professional photographers arrived, I went up to check out how the room was set up. They were already taking pictures themselves with the poses that you would not expect from a nurse in a hospital. They were very eager to hand on trying different blankets and mock up how a picture was looked like with different bed sheets. It's fun. Housekeeping head almost wanted to kill us. I've got some helping hands to help out arranging flowers in a vase. It turned out like a forest though but I could see how enthusaistic...

Green company

Image
"Green Energy", "Green Company" and "Green Environment" are what people pursue these days. When I was searching for a hotel, I found a website which helped you sort out whether a particular hotel was eco-friendly or not. Business Week has been publishing quite many features on green issues these days. At office, I received calls from a "green association" which pitched for business by inviting whatever companies to sponsor them. Those companies can then label themselves in support of the environment. Isn't it funny? So, a friend told me that CLP and HK Electric implement some of the eco-friendly measures only due to government incentives to boost its profit or minimize its tax. It happened that a friend of mine was so eager to find out the "wind power" measure set up by HK Electric on Lamma Island. Luckily I told her not to walk back the trail for over half an hour to find out where it is. While riding the boat back to Central, we ...
