Hello Canada again!

It was a 12-hour flight from Hong Kong to Vancouver. A Chinese senior couple were sitting next to me. I was happy that the aircraft is quite new and is in a better seat setting than the one I flew with Cathay Pacific Airline. There are only 3 seats in the middle as compared to the Cathay one with 4 seats. I had an aisle seat as usual seeing people walking up and down the aisle in all those hours. It would have driven me crazy if I kept my eyes open watching people passing through me in 12 hours.  So even though I couldn't quite sleep at all, I still close my eyes to have a rest. The entertainment console is not bad in an AC plane but it's not as good as the Cathay one. You can't take the console out or it doesn't full support for all the entertainment yet, like games.

The flight was overbooked. The airport staff kept trying tempting passengers fly on a different date by paying them Cdn$600. Hmmm, if that's $1,000 Cdn plus one night of free hotel, maybe I'll fly on the next date. But no thank you, I want my seat and say hello to Canada again before Canada Day.

I might have thought that AC flight should be more western people than Chinese but no. Obviously Vancouver has a good mix of Chinese and Asian residents now.

I'm glad that I survived the long flight and the custom just asked me 3 questions. And here I am in Canada again. Hello Canada and hello my friend.

The first day I arrived, I have already experienced the heavy tax system in Canada. A single trip to downtown is supposed to be $3.75 Cdn but the government found that it's a good idea to reap off tourists by charging them $5 Cdn extra. And they add more taxes on the day they celebrate the birthday of Canada. It just can't possibly happen in Hong Kong but not even 3% sales tax.

I will, for sure, experience, more than a tax heavy Canada in the coming 2 weeks. Hello again before I dozed off.
