Visiting the elderly
I went to a training session at a charity organization the other day. At the end of the session, we got a chance to visit the elderly in the public housing. They all live alone in a small flat.
What I remember the most was the first old woman whom I visited. She couldn't walk well and her place was stacked up with junks. When we locked on the door, we heard her keep saying "I'm coming." Till she opened the door that we realized that she were using a stick to help her walk a small step each time. It took her 2 minutes to walk like 10 feet.
It's a brief 15 minutes' visit but I'm happy that she's being well looked after by the security staff in the building and the welfare society. She very much appreciated our visit and told us that we should spend more time with our family. I was a bit touched by what she said though I didn't know her at all.
Will I be living alone when I get old? That's what my friend told me that she will but she might live with her sister when she's 64!
