Follow the Instincts
A therapist told me to take care of my feelings, not necessarily just seeking a solution as your mind also has needs. I started to "digest" what it means - Listen to what your body trying to tell you, instead of overthinking to do something to save brain power.
Yes, just "follow the gut feelings", just "do it, don't think" especially when going to bed.
You write the address on an envelope, you need not to think, it's just your routine memory in your brain that helps you to do the task. You have breakfast, you need not to think as you just take that to your mouth and your body automatically digests the food. You go to bed, it's supposed to be programmed to be sleeping. Then you think too much that messes up the original programme, develop interference and worries.
Let the mind wander, stay still, close your eyes, imagine you're sleeping and sleeping deep, slow down the breathing like what you have as in sleeping. Don't think, then a visual will show up, let it wander, Don't think. You realise "I just slept a little?!", follow these steps and enjoy a good sleep.
Thanks to the comic artists who gave us such valuable tips.
I have to bear that in mind - Not to struggle with our brain journey. Let it rest.
A few more tips from a sleep specialist
* Change your thoughts - It's fine to function the next day even if you do not sleep well tonight.
* Accept the fact - the less you struggle with insomnia, the chance of falling asleep increases
* Learn to relax - worry less, see what happens
* Nervous for our class / meeting - tell yourself worries is normal, trying to accept
* sleep hygiene; sleep early instead of having too much worries
* mindfulness in a good environment, feeling the beautiful environment, minimising negative thought
* do what is important to you - look at the big picture; care about what you want to do, and forget those minor things
Not to cancel meeting your friends; normal routine
* immerse less in social media, focus on what you like to do, e.g. hiking, swimming, going to the beach
